Four Days Living the Work at Knob Hill Ranch

Join us for an intimate four-day horsemanship experience at Knob Hill Ranch, surrounded by the working herd at KHR and the open desert of Joshua Tree National Park, led by renowned horseman Pat Puckett.
Spend four days working side by side with Pat, developing greater feel, timing, communication, and understanding with your horse. Each morning begins with focused horsemanship work at the ranch before taking that work beyond the arena and onto the desert trails of Joshua Tree National Park.
Enrollment is limited to eight participants. Rather than trying to absorb everything in a single clinic day, you’ll have four consecutive days with Pat to work through challenges, apply what you’re learning, see what holds up outside the arena, and come back the following morning to keep building. The small group gives Pat the opportunity to work with each horse-and-rider pair individually while everyone benefits from watching the work develop across different horses.
Beyond the formal sessions, you’ll have access to the larger horse program at Knob Hill Ranch — a working herd of horses with different backgrounds, strengths, challenges, and levels of training. For riders interested in working beyond their own horse, there will be opportunities to learn from the KHR herd and see how the same principles translate across different horses. Afternoons take the work into miles of open desert terrain, where elevation, footing, exposure, and the unexpected create a very different classroom than an arena.
When the horses are put up, the conversation continues. Share chef-prepared dinners with Pat, the other riders, and the Knob Hill Ranch team; talk through the horses and the work from the day; and wind down in the hot tub under the desert sky. The four-day format leaves room for the kind of conversations, observations, and problem-solving that rarely fit into the schedule of a traditional clinic.
